THIS WEEKS MEETING
No Regular Meeting.  The Mystery Dinner held on February 12, 2008, was the official meeting.

LAST WEEKS MEETING
Mike Ahearn introduced the guest speak Terry Regan, a Certified Public Accountant with the firm of Stitcher, Regan, Mosley & Company.  Mr. Regan decided that although he is a CPA he would speak to us about his involvement with a non profit organization called the Defense Oriented Conference Association (DOCA).   This organization is comprised of a group of volunteer citizens whose goal is to monitor and interact with the military on a regular basis and bring the needs, experiences and concerns of the military back to groups such as Rotary.  He related to us that today is the celebration of Chinese New Year and that 40 years ago he was celebrating Chinese New Year in Viet Nam. He spoke about some of his experiences in Viet Nam and the negative reception he experienced when he returned to the United States after completing his tour of duty in Viet Nam.  While in Viet Nam he met a young lieutenant whose name is Peter Pace.  That Lieutenant is now General Peter Pace, head of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.  He had the pleasure of meeting General Pace again when he was part of a DOCA briefing to the Joint Chiefs.  Mr. Regan also shared with us that his belief is that it is our responsibility to support the military and morale of the military regardless of our position on the War.

Bob Grill shared some information from the 2006 - 2007 Rotary Foundation Annual Report.  He informed us that the Rotary Foundation reached huge mile stones in contributions.  First time contributions to the annual program exceeded one million U.S. dollars and the number of new Paul Harris donors was at the highest level ever. The Rotary Foundation is what makes Rotary work.
